Planning a baby shower takes a lot of effort to pull off the ideal party for the mom-to-be and her new bundle of joy. Consider this step-by-step guide to host a baby shower that will be memorable, elegant and most of all, fun!

Choose a date and time:  Baby showers are usually held on the weekend. If it is during the week, it is ideal to hold it in the evening to accommodate as many guests as possible. A baby shower is generally held four to six weeks before the baby is born. That way, mom-to-be has plenty of time to plan and register for the gifts.

Prepare a guest list: Start with a guest list, complete with full names and addresses. Close friends are a natural for the guest list, so are family members. When coming up with a guest list it is best to consult with the guest of honor before finalizing your list.

Choose a venue: There’s no hard and fast rule, when it comes to deciding where to hold the baby shower. When thinking of a location for a baby shower; think about how many people will be attending. If there is a large group of people, consider reserving a community center, or a banquet hall. Showers may also be held in the home of the hostess, a family member or a friend or outside if the weather permits.

Send out invitations: Baby shower invitations should be sent out five to six weeks before the shower. That way guests will have have plenty of time to RSVP and shop for a gift. If you are hosting a casual baby shower, invites are perfectly fine. For a more formal shower, we recommend going old-school with paper invitations.

Choose a theme and decor: Choosing a theme and decor for the baby shower can be a time-consuming process. Fortunately, hosts nowadays have access to a variety of baby shower party kits  and decor that can match any theme or color. These kits include all the supplies and decorations you’ll need, from invites to cupcake wrappers, making party planning a breeze. Just add your own personalized touch and you are ready to celebrate!

Pick up favors: Have a few party favors for the shower attendees to take home. Some all time favorites include personalized baby shower mint tins, personalized baby shower candles and baby shower cookies. Mini candy dispensers and mini candy jars filled with treats make classic and affordable baby shower favors.

Planning a baby shower can be vey stressful, but remember that a baby shower celebrates one of life’s  most joyous occasion; and while you’ll want to be as organized as possible, have some fun with it too.
