Alec Bradley Cigars are a relatively young company, established in 1996. The brand started small, but has grown to be a popular international choice among cigar smokers. The Prensado Churchill was named top cigar in 2011 by Cigar Aficionado magazine and has had favorable review. The brand has since maintained a position on the magazine’s Top 25 list annually. If you have never smoked a cigar from this maker before, you might be curious about what to expect.

History of Alec Bradley Cigars

Alec Bradley Cigars was founded by Alan Rubin, who named the brand for his two children. Based in Florida, the company initially tried selling a custom cigar to golfers called the “Bogey’s Stogies.” This was at the decline of the cigar boom and Rubin soon found himself in debt and without success. A friendship with Ralph Montero and a business deal with Henke Kelner created the “Occidental Reserve,” the cigar that launched Rubin’s eventual success. Working toward his true passion, Alan Rubin began to make a name for himself in the cigar industry and today the company produces millions of cigars sold around the world.

Varieties of Cigars Available

Alec Bradley currently has a line with 20 different varieties of cigar. Among the most popular is the American Classic Blend, of which the American Classic Torpedo is considered a sweet variety. In contrast, the Black Market Toro is a darker and richer variety. The Alec Bradley New York was made available in five formats to celebrate the city’s iconic landscape. The Empire format pays tribute to the Empire State Building. AB cigars are available in these varieties as well.
