Once upon a time, colleges everywhere insisted that potential students take the SAT and the ACT tests as college entrance exams. If you refused to take the SAT, they insisted that you take the ACT at the very least.

Now that many colleges have relaxed this requirement, you may be wondering if SAT test preparation in NJ is even worth it. You might also be wondering, “Which do colleges want: SAT or ACT?” Those are both very valid questions with very reasonable answers.

Better Take the Tests, Just in Case

Different institutions of higher learning have additional requirements where the ACT and SAT are concerned. A community college or vocational school might toss them out, but Harvard or Yale might expect to see both on your application. It helps to check with the colleges and universities you intend to apply to to see if your SAT test preparation in NJ is necessary.

Answering the Question: Which Do Colleges Want: SAT or ACT?

The ACT in terms of a college entrance test has almost fallen by the wayside. It’s less commonly required than the SAT. If a college does require the SAT, it’s unlikely to ask for the ACT scores as well. It’s advisable to take the SAT first, and if you can, take the ACT just in case. Some colleges do ask for both, which is another reason to take both.
