For some people who live in an oceanfront condominium in Santa Monica, food comes from a grocery store or supermarket. For others, this is not the case. They prefer their food fresh. They like to know where it originates from. They like to talk to the producers. In Santa Monica, this task is made easy for them. They have their choice of attending any or all three of the Farmers’ Markets in this city.

Downtown Farmers’ Market – Twice Weekly

This is by far the most popular Farmers’ Market in Santa Monica. It is also the largest. Open on Wednesday and Saturday mornings, it provides its visitors with the chance to smell the scents of wonderful food in the well-known food tent on Arizona Ave. The delicious meals and snacks are all prepared and presented by local restaurants

The high visibility of this market over the others is due to its patrons. If you arrive early enough on a Wednesday, you just might catch a glimpse of some of the star chefs that perform their magic in local kitchens. Yet, on Saturday, you can come and buy organic produce.

Main Street Farmers’ Market

As the name indicates, you can find this one that happens on Main Street. Just drive the short distance from your oceanfront condominium every Sunday to enjoy the scents and tastes. This market has a very different feeling than that of the popular Downtown Farmers’ Market. The atmosphere is more carnival or fair-like with its pony rides and face painting for children. There is also live music. Chefs can be found serving snacks as well as breakfast and lunch while farmers at another section provide people with a variety of products ranging from raw milk and cheese to fruit and vegetables.

Unlike the other Farmers’ Markets in Santa Monica, this one also offers non-agricultural products. Here, you can buy unique jewelry, one-of-a-kind apparel and various local crafts. One characteristic that also makes this market stand out is its sustainability. Everything possible is recyclable or recycled.

Pico Farmers’ Market

Located at Virginia Park, this market is only open on Saturdays. It is the place for you to buy produce from the area. Sample the rich bounty of cherries, cacti and other fruit and vegetables at this family market.

From The Farmers’ Market To Your Oceanfront Condominium

If you love fresh food and like to patronize local farmers, then buying an oceanfront condominium in Santa Monica will not prevent you from following your desires. With at least four Farmers’ Markets from which to choose, this city is an excellent place to make home.
