In several states, including Ohio, patients can see a medical marijuana doctor using a safe, secure, online platform. Medical telemedicine technology provides patients with a convenient way to have a confidential consultation with an approved medical marijuana doctor from the comfort of their own home or any other private location.
What is Telemedicine?
Medical telemedicine is a virtual option for doctors and patients to connect. This is an ideal option when the doctor is not required to complete a physical examination, as in the case of a recommendation for medical marijuana.
Telemedicine has been used for a few years for providing access to doctors and mental health professionals for people in remote locations or those unable to travel to their doctors. In 2020 and with the rise of Covid-19 restrictions, medical telemedicine moved into the mainstream, providing patients and doctors with an option to complete remote appointments.
All telemedicine is completed through secure, HIPAA-compliant platforms. The patient can access these platforms through a computer as well as through the browser on a smartphone.
The Appointment
An Ohio medical marijuana doctor will introduce his or herself on the call and verify your identity. Next, the doctor will review your medical records, asking questions about past treatments and any issues the patient may have experienced with the treatment.
Once the MMJ doctor approves the qualifying medical or psychological condition and provides a recommendation for the use of medical marijuana, the PT information is entered into the state registry. Patients will receive their medical marijuana card in about seven to ten business days after entering the data into the registry.
